One of my favorite bands is AC/DC and hearing them live was on my bucket list. I ticked that one off in 2016 right before Brian Johnson stopped touring, and my ears are still ringing years later. I continue to give myself whiplash listening to classics like, “For Those About to Rock” and “Back in Black,” but there’s something so special, so unique about their inimitable “It’s A Long Way to the Top.”
For those who may not know that ditty, first—shame on you! And second, it’s probably the only rock song that features the bagpipes. Yes. Bagpipes. Thumping, hard driving guitar accompanied by the whine of bagpipes in a way that only the boys from Australia could manage.
And therein lies one valuable lesson. It’s about finding something that doesn’t belong, something that is one-of-a-kind, and rockin’ it like it’s nobody’s business. What “bagpipes” do you have that are growing dust in the corner of your life?
Are there dreams you have that you tell yourself that others would laugh if they knew? Is there something that you crave to do with fervor that you’re smothering? If so, I’m here to tell you that there is power in doing something someone else isn’t creative (or even crazy) enough to try.
So, pick up your bagpipes or whatever dream you’ve been sitting on. It’s time to Rock Your Life.
